Youth Volunteer Opportunities

  

Yard work, gardening, snow removal, light housekeeping: Help seniors and handicapped individuals stay safely in their homes by helping them care for their homes. You would receive calls as needs arise.

 

After school tutoring: Help other students get that extra boost needed to make the grade.

 

Share your musical talents! Area nursing homes would love to have you play for their residents.  Go alone or in pairs or groups!

 

Recycling center help: Care for your environment by working at the center.

 

Food Pantry: Area food pantries are in need of volunteers who will learn their operation and are willing to commit to a schedule.  

 

Reception help: Several nonprofits are looking for people to answer the phones on a regular basis.  (You could come in after school to help)

 

Hospital help: Deliver flowers and newspapers to patients, transport patients to different areas as needed and much more.

 

Nursing home is in need of bingo help.  They are also looking for individuals to give manicures and hand massages to residents (they'll show you what to do!).

Nursing home is looking for friendly visitors.  Bring a smile to an elderly person and learn about life in the process!

 

McHenry County Peer Jury: Program operates under the auspices of the McHenry County Juvenile Officers Association.  It is designed to provide a meaningful and remedial method of dealing with selected juvenile offenders. Peer jury questions offenders and fixes an appropriate punishment.  - One night per month commitment.
