Description: The Grantsmanship Center’s signature Grantsmanship Training Program is coming to Arlington Heights (Chicago area), Illinois, June 2-6, 2008. The program will be hosted by Business and Career Services, Inc./Illinois workNet Center. The Grantsmanship Training Program is a comprehensive, hands-on workshop that covers the complete grant development process, from researching funding sources to writing and reviewing grant proposals. More than 110,000 nonprofit and government personnel have attended this fast-paced, five-day workshop, which is followed with a full year of membership support services. During this workshop, participants learn The Grantsmanship Center’s proposal-writing format, the most widely used in the world. In addition to practicing advanced techniques for pursuing government, foundation, and corporate grants, participants work in small teams to develop and then review real grant proposals. Participants exit the class equipped with new skills, new professional connections, and follow-up support services for one year, including professional proposal review, access to The Grantsmanship Center’s exclusive online funding databases, and an array of other benefits. 7/4/2008 : "Run for the Arts"

Description: Thirteenth Annual Run for the Arts set for July 4th. "Run for the Arts" the sanctioned and certified 5K - 10K runs and 2K - 5K walks will take place July 4th. The scenic routs will once again wind there way through the village of Barrington. The thirteenth annual Run for the Arts begins at the heart of Barrington's Main Street with the runs and 5K walk starting at 7:30 am and the 2K walk beinning immediately after. Entry fee is $25.00 through June 26; $28.00 thereafter and $15.00 for the walk. This year's donation will support the Music Therapy department at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital. Good Shepherd Hospital Health & Fitness Center has assumed the responsibility of the race due to the fact that the Barrington Arts Council disbanded last year. In the meeting with the Village of Barrington it was decided that as with original mission of the Arts Council, the race will still promote the arts within the community.
