Woodstock Folk Festival Presents Dean Milano & Friends in Concert
-
The Woodstock Folk Festival is delighted to present Dean Milano, Tricia Alexander, Andrew Calhoun, and Russ Ward in a special fundraiser concert and book signing in celebration of the release of Dean's Book "The Chicago Music Scene: 1960’s and 1970’s". All 3 guests were featured in the book - and the author is a gifted singer-songwriter as well! This is a great opportunity to catch them together in a show and to have them all sign the book. Here's an excerpt provided by the author: "This is the story of two decades of the Chicago music scene – the 1960s and ’70s, an incredibly vibrant period in urban and suburban music scenes across the country and throughout the world. It was a time when...just about every type of music imaginable flowed through the streets of Chicagoland. This story will focus on the city of Chicago (along with an approximate 30 mile radius of its suburban club scene) and the homegrown performers who made it one of the most electrifying and memorable periods in music history."
The concert and book signing event takes place at the Stage Left Cafe' on Sunday March 7, 2010 at 3 pm. Admission to this special benefit concert is a suggested donation of $10 for adults, and $7 for students and seniors. Proceeds fund the 2010 Woodstock Folk Festival.

The Alexander Leigh Center for Autism (ALCA) is a 501c3 charity, located in Lake in the Hills. It is a Developmental Learning Center and Illinois State Board of Education approved Therapeutic Day School for children with autistic spectrum disorders between the ages of 2 and 12. Currently, autism is the fastest growing neurodevelopmental disability in the United States. It is estimated that autism is being diagnosed at the rate of 1 out of every 100 children. It is our mission to provide an environment where our students can learn and thrive. We focus on sensory regulation, engagement, communication, academics, social skills, reduction of maladaptive behaviors, community integration, life skills and parent coaching. Each student has an individualized 1:1 program designed to meet their unique needs, using proven methodologies and teaching strategies to gain functional independence. ALCA continues to grow and develop with the rising population of autism. In order to continue to provide quality services to our students and their families, we need community support.

The Freedom of Forgiveness by Mary Hayes Grieco
-
The Freedom of Forgiveness
by Mary Hayes Grieco
April 29, 2010 • MCC Conference Center
8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Professional Seminar
The Freedom of Forgiveness:
An effective process that will help your clients become free of past hurts.
• Seminar for psychologists, counselors, marriage and family therapists,
nurses, social workers and other professionals.
Forgiveness, usually considered to be within the territory of religious teachings, has become a concern of both psychology and medicine in the past ten years, generating at least 2,300 studies. The studies prove what we have always intuitively known to be true – holding on to resentments is bad for our health and happiness. Forgiveness of another will measurably reduce levels of physical stress.
In this seminar you will:
•Review current research linking forgiveness with stress reduction.
•Learn the Psychosynthesis Model of psychological health and wholeness.
•Learn the Eight Steps of Forgiving Another and the process of self-forgiveness.
•Learn how forgiveness brings healing into a recovering family system.
•Develop strategies for applying The Eight Steps of Forgiveness in a clinical practice.
CEUs for the professional seminar will be available (additional $10 payable to MCC at
the seminar)
Fee: $79 (NCC S63 001) or $64 for SEDOM employees (NCC S63 002)
