The Volunteer Center is the leading community service
resource
in McHenry County. We foster relationships with
non-profits and volunteers to strengthen and support helping
organizations in the county.
The Volunteer Center has four core functions:
-
Connect any person or group to non-profits
-
Build capacity of effective volunteering
-
Promote volunteerism
-
Participate in strategic plans to mobilize volunteers to
strengthen communities
We build capacity of
nonprofit organizations by enriching their volunteer
program, allowing them to reach new heights of service
utilizing fewer dollars. We do that by:
-
Providing professional
development opportunities
-
Providing a platform to
recruit volunteers
-
Identifying trends that
impact nonprofits programs
-
Offering network
opportunities
Healthy lifestyles are
fostered by:
-
Encouraging, and promoting
volunteerism in the community
-
Bringing people and
organizations together to solve community problems
Our Member Organizations
include: nonprofit organizations, government
agencies, civic groups, churches, hospitals, schools, and
libraries. Presently we have 243 member organizations with
an annual volunteer need of 50,000.
Volunteers manage a
variety of tasks for organizations from fundraising
and marketing, and child care and companionship, to caring
for land and unwanted animals. They are mentors, tutors,
teachers, advocates, artists, physicians, grandparents, and
more. Individuals and groups that wish to help their
community can get connected to an
organization through our website,
www.volunteermchenrycounty.org
or by talking with a Volunteer Center staff person.
The Volunteer Center is
managed by Not-For-Profit Resources and funded by
United Way of Greater McHenry County and generous donors. If
you would like to become a donor contact the Volunteer
Center or visit our website.
