Then come to one of TLC's work parties. Help restore our natural areas by removing invasive species. No previous experience is needed. Come check us out!    When does the volunteer need take place?  Land Conservancy work parties take place at various sites throughout the county. There are several dates every month, so it's best to check our website or email us and we'll get you the schedule and directions. 19113   McHenry County Conservation District Habitat Restoration Workdays  Location: Woodstock   60098 Description: Here's a three-hour drop in opportunity that doesn't require advance registration and is perfect for MCC Promise students. If you’re wild about nature and enjoy working with people who are enthusiastic about preserving the environment, you’re a “natural” to help Conservation District site stewards to restore habitat at various conservation areas in McHenry County. As a volunteer, you’ll assist with seasonal restoration tasks, such as cutting and stacking invasive brush, removing non-native vegetation, and sowing native plant seed. Conntact the MCCD Volunteer Coordinator for a list of upcoming restoration days at a conservation area convenient to you. No experience is necessary – training is provided. Wear sturdy footwear and clothing appropriate for outdoor work and weather conditions. No sandals allowed. Tools are provided. Bring work gloves and safety glasses if you own them, plus drinking water, insect repellent, hat and sunscreen, as needed.    When does the volunteer need take place?  Weekends - ongoing at various conservation areas throughout McHenry County. 18388   McHenry County Conservation District Natural Areas Restoration Workdays  Location: Woodstock   60098 Description: Do you enjoy working outdoors? Do you believe that EVERY DAY should be Earth Day? McHenry County Conservation District Site Stewards need your help! If you’re wild about natural areas and want to help make them even better, come to a restoration workday! Some of the things you'll assist MCCD Site Stewards with include: removing invasive brush and vegetation; stacking brush for burning; helping with site clean-up; planting and collecting the seed of native plants. Learn about habitat restoration and native plants, and meet people who share your interest in the environment. Training & equipment are provided by the Conservation District. Come and make a difference with us!    When does the volunteer need take place?  Restoration workdays are usually held on weekends, and typically last 3-4 hours. If your group of 10 or more is interested in participating, a special restoration session can be scheduled. Training just prior to event provided. No experience necessary, but restaurant experience a plus. Some clean up after the event also. This a great opportunity for MCC students to acquire volunteer hours before the school year starts!   When does the volunteer need take place?  Volunteers do need to be available sometime during regular business hours, Monday-Friday, must either be over 18 years old or accompanied by a parent/guardian and have their own transportation.    Ongoing?        One-time-only?   Who would be great for this opportunity? If you love being outdoors and like nature you will love our workdays. Special training on how to identify invasives and how to identify native species present in Illinois.    When does the volunteer need take place?  Workdays are every Saturday if the weather permits. 9am to Noon.
