We are looking for adult volunteers who would like to be Cub Scout leaders with Pack #134. Pack #134 was started in January of 2006 and has 10 scouts grades 1-5. These scouts all come from low-income families, and many come from single parent households that makes it difficult for the parents to dedicate a lot of time to planning and facilitating pack activities. We need adults (male or female) who would like to serve as adult Cub Scout leaders.
When
does the volunteer need take place? This would be a large and relatively long-term commitment, that would require the volunteer to spend time planning activities, tracking advancements, etc. as well as facilitating pack activities. Much of the work could be done on their own time.

Garden Quarter Neighborhood Resource Center Americorp Member

This is an excellent opportunity for any college student, senior in high school, or any adult that is looking to complete either 450 or 900 hours of community service while learning valuable skills to last a lifetime. In addition, members receive a monthly stipend for the service and are given an education award to be spent on student loans/ registrations fees/ etc upon completion of their hours.
Americorps members will complete most of their hours at the Garden Quarter Neighborhood Resource Center. They will serve as tutors and mentors to youth aged 7-17 and will be responsible for planning life skills and recreational activites as well as assisting in the coordination of service learning projects.

When
does the volunteer need take place? This is a commitment that requires the individual to complete 450-900 hours by September of 2008. During the school year, the individual would need to work a minimum of 4 hours a day 2 days a week from 2:30 - 6:30 p.m. (with some flexibility) at the Garden Quarter Neighborhood Resource Center in addition to regular activities/ meetings on most Friday afternoons (2:30-5:00 p.m.) at Family Care in Crystal Lake.
