18870   The Light Center Equine Program Assistant  Location: Union   60180 Description: This position is for a well seasoned horse person and includes the possibilty of assisting with youth participants during sessions. While this position can be very rewarding, it does have specific qualifications,including: at least 6,000 hours of hands-on work experience with horses (approximately 3 year's full-time work), and 40 hours of continuing equine education within the last two years. 18854   The Light Center Handyperson  Location: Union   60180 Description: The role of The Light Center handy(wo)man is to assist in the maintenance and repair needs of the facility. Basic handyman skills are required. The role of the Equine Program Assistant is to aid and support TLC instructors with children/teen groups during activities. The barn keeper does not include animal care, however a basic comfort level around animals is needed. Tasks include: Sweeping/washing floors, sanitizing counters/tables, dusting, washing windows, brushing down cobwebs, cleaning/organizing storage room, cleaning bathroom, scrubbing sink, washing out garbage cans, picking up trash along fencelines.   When does the volunteer need take place?  Scheduled times slots during the week, Monday-Friday, 8:00-9:30 and 3:00-6:00.    Ongoing? This is an opportunity to interact with these animals at least once a week for up to 2 hours. A great opportunity for MCC Promise students!   When does the volunteer need take place?  During the week, Monday-Friday. Volunteers need to be over 18 years old or accompanied by a parent/guardian. McHenry County 3rd - 5th grade students come for a two hour experience.
