16531   McHenry County Conservation District Native Plant Seed Collection Volunteer

Location: Richmond   60071

Description: McHenry County Conservation District's Natural Resource Management Department is looking for volunteers to collect seed from over 50 native prairie plant species found on District sites throughout McHenry County. Seed collected from local sites preserves local genotypes and has a greater chance of surviving in restoration projects, because it is adapted to our region's climate and soils. Potential seed collectors should have an interest in plants and natural plant communities, enjoy outdoor field work, and be able to work independently. Volunteers will gain plant identification skills.
