19936   Senior Services Association, Inc. - Companion Program Senior Companion Friendly Visiting 

Location: Hebron   60034

Description: Senior friendly, compassionate volunteer needed for 87 yr old senior female who lives alone in a more rural area. She would enjoy chatting, going out to lunch, go for a drive and puzzles. She is overall and upbeat an upbeat woman, phone companion might work well for her too. Even every other week visits may work for her. Volunteer must complete application, interview and background process. Volunteer commits to visit senior at least once a week for a minimum of one hour.   

When does the volunteer need take place?  As soon as a suitable volunteer is found.

18378   CASA of McHenry County Volunteer Child Advocates 

Location: Hebron   60033

Description: A Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) is a trained volunteer appointed by the juvenile court judge to provide objective, factual information in the best interests of a child who is involved in an abuse or neglect case in the court system. CASA volunteers are ordinary adult citizens. No special or legal background is required. Volunteers are screened closely for objectivity, competence and commitment.  

When does the volunteer need take place?  This is an on-going need with training provided 3-4 times per year (view website for upcoming training opportunities). The next training will begin 9/22/08. Volunteers must fill out an application and participate in an interview prior to being accepted into the training class.
